My Son passed away 4 months ago. I suspected the Hospital E. R Doctor gave him too much medication. He went there for abdominal Cramps, and less than 24 Hours later died from an enlarged heart. I sent an Attorney his Autopsy Report and his Hospital Medical Records. It is one of the Largest Law Firms in the state. I talked to them and they said that 95 percent of all cases they get they turn down for lack of proof. But they want to review my Sons case more. Is that good or bad. I was so glad to find this — I’m sorry for your loss. Did the hospital doctor discuss your son’s health with you? Did he explain why your son had an enlarged heart? The autopsy should have listed the reason why your son’s heart was enlarged and you can look on the internet at a reputable medical site and find out what the diagnosis means. Perhaps your son was sick for a very long time but his symptoms just weren’t noticeable and only when he became very ill did his heart give out. Just like and an adult whoever has a heart attack, heart pain manifests in very unusual ways. Some adults even complain of an upset stomach or stomach cramps. With a little bit of looking at your son’s medical records, you can bring your self some peace of mind and possibly find out the doctor did nothing wrong and did everything right. Secondly, don’t let the attorneys just sit on your case. I’m not an attorney, but I know you can waive certain legal rights and remedies for reason of the expiration of the applicable time limitations. The lawsuit has to be filed within a certain amount of time. If you’ve a good case, then it will be readily apparent to the attorney from the records and report. If it’s been a while or if it seems like you aren’t getting your questions answered, request the record/report back and find a new attorney. At the minimum, request an appointment ASAP with the attorney reviewing your case. A large law firm does not necessarily mean the best. The main difference between small and large firms is more personalized attention from a small firm and more readily available resources with a large firm. If you switch firms, try to find a firm with a nurse on staff. That means the nurse can review the files in house (in the firm) and probably means the firm does lots of work in personal injury law. I will give my resume tomorrow to a friend whoever will give it to his criminal law attorney, i’m 20 years old and the only experience I have is I co-own an affiliate marketing website (which is doing very well) and i’m a part of my college law society. Is that a bad experience resume because I want to intern at this big firm. I also have a 3. 7 GPA. Will those 3 get me the position, or are they gonna say at my age I should already have worked in the legal field and I don’t have enough experience? if my resume isn’t good enough for intern I will at least work as volunteer, at least I just need some experience in a law department before I go to law school in a year. I don’t want them not to accept me because I don’t have any prior law firm experience. From what I can tell… I’m an attorney, and just for clarification, most legal internships are unpaid. You may be able to get an intership that is paid, but similar to any other industry interns usually work for free. Since you have not attended law school, I do not believe that your level of “legal knowledge” is a requisite. If I were you I would emphasize my interest in pursuing a career in the law and your aptitude to learn things quickly and apply yourself to a task. Also, if you have superior computer skills (based on your internet company) I’d emphasize that. Most lawyers are Neanderthals when it comes to technology and if you can make that portion of their life easier, then better for you. Also, don’t feel pressured to have worked in a law firm prior to law school. Before I entered law school I hadn’t set foot in a law firm or government legal agency. I don’t believe that working in a law firm will make you anymore successful in law school because as any practioner knows, practicing law and law school curriculas are too totally different beasts. Also, be aware that if you are applying to intern in a big law firm, you are also competing with other law students. I would suggest that you contact government agencies like the public defender, prosecutor’s office, or attorney general’s office as a possible source for internships. Although, you may be in competition for a spot in these agencies, there may be more room for you. I hope my advice helps.
